Body-Worn Camera

  • Debtor Rights

A camera worn by an enforcement agent to record interactions with debtors during enforcement visits. Body-worn cameras provide an objective record of what occurred during a visit, protecting both the debtor and the agent against disputed accounts of events.

In practice

Most major enforcement firms now require agents to wear body-worn cameras as standard practice. The footage is stored securely and can be reviewed in the event of a complaint or dispute. Agents should inform the debtor that they are being recorded. The use of body-worn cameras has been encouraged by the Enforcement Conduct Board and is considered best practice. Footage is subject to data protection requirements under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
