HMCTS

  • Regulatory Bodies

His Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service is the executive agency of the Ministry of Justice responsible for the administration of courts and tribunals in England and Wales. HMCTS manages the County Court, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and all tribunals, including the issuing of warrants and writs of enforcement.

In practice

HMCTS processes applications for enforcement: creditors apply to the court for writs of control, charging orders, third party debt orders, and attachment of earnings orders through HMCTS. The County Court Money Claims Centre handles most money claims, while enforcement applications may be directed to specific courts. HMCTS also employs County Court bailiffs.
