Enforcement Conduct Board
- Regulatory Bodies
An independent oversight body established to regulate the conduct of certificated enforcement agents in England and Wales. The ECB sets standards of behaviour and handles complaints from members of the public about the conduct of enforcement agents. It replaced the earlier self-regulatory framework.
In practice
The ECB operates a complaints process for debtors and third parties who believe an enforcement agent has acted improperly. It can investigate complaints, make findings, and impose sanctions. Enforcement firms are required to be members and to comply with the ECB's standards. The ECB also collects quarterly data returns from enforcement firms for sector-wide reporting.
