High Court Judgement

  • Court Orders

A High Court judgement is an order made by the High Court of Justice, typically in claims exceeding £100,000 or in cases of particular complexity or public importance. The High Court has inherent jurisdiction under the Senior Courts Act 1981 and its judgements are enforceable by writ of control issued by a High Court Enforcement Officer.

In practice

High Court judgements are enforced directly by writ of control without the need for transfer. Enforcement fees follow Table 2 of the Taking Control of Goods (Fees) Regulations 2014, which are higher than county court fees. Judgements for £600 or more from the County Court may be transferred up for High Court enforcement under s.42 of the County Courts Act 1984.
