Writ of Control
- Enforcement Methods
A writ issued by the High Court authorising a High Court Enforcement Officer (HCEO) to take control of a judgement debtor's goods to satisfy a judgement debt. It replaced the old writ of fieri facias (fi fa) under the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007.
In practice
A creditor with a County Court judgement of £600 or more (excluding certain debt types) can transfer it to the High Court for enforcement by writ of control. The HCEO serves a notice of enforcement giving a minimum of 14 clear days before attending the debtor's premises to take control of goods.
