Fee Remission

  • Fee Terms

A reduction or waiver of court fees for individuals who cannot afford to pay them. Fee remission is available under the Courts and Tribunals Fee Remissions Order and is means-tested based on income, savings, and receipt of qualifying benefits.

In practice

Applicants complete form EX160 and provide evidence of their financial circumstances. Full remission is available for those receiving qualifying benefits (such as Universal Credit with no income element) or with disposable income below prescribed thresholds. Partial remission reduces the fee for those above the full remission threshold but below the full-fee threshold. Fee remission applies to court fees only, not to enforcement agent fees.
