Hearing Fee

  • Fee Terms

A court fee payable when a matter is listed for a hearing. Hearing fees apply to trials, enforcement hearings, and contested applications. The amount depends on the type of hearing and, for trials, the value of the claim.

In practice

Hearing fees must be paid in advance and the court will not list the hearing until the fee is received. For small claims hearings, the fee ranges from £38 to £220. For fast track and multi-track trials, fees can be substantially higher. If the hearing is vacated or the case settles, a partial refund may be available depending on when notice is given.
